In the afternoon of May 18, 2023, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Monash University took place successfully. Monash University is a modern, global, research-intensive university, delivering education and research excellence in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific

Cooperation with Go8 University in Australia

Opening the signing ceremony, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) - expressed his excitement to cooperate with Monash University – Australia’s largest university.

According to Dr. Dinh Cong Khai, this signing ceremony is the first step for a long-term cooperation between the UEH and Monash University, to give Global Pathways students the opportunity to access top quality education in Australia.

Agreeing with the above perspective, Professor Susan Elliott AM - Provost and Senior Vice-President, Monash University stated that the signing ceremony was an important milestone marking the long-term cooperation journey between Monash University and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.  At the ceremony, Professor Susan Elliott also expressed her appreciation to Vietnamese students.

“Monash University is committed to supporting Vietnamese students in their pursuit of higher education. The partnership with UEH allows Monash to offer high-quality education opportunities to Vietnamese students who may not have been able to study overseas otherwise” Professor Elliott said.

“The partnership also allows for academic exchange between faculty members, promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing between the two institutions”.

“The cooperation between Monash University and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in the Global Pathways program serves to strengthen ties between Australia and Vietnam and provide students with a valuable global education.”

In the future, UEH and Monash University will enhance support for research and creative activities, as well as innovative educational programs for Monash Global Pathways students.

The partnership contributes to the goals outlined in Monash University’s strategic plan, , which outlines the vision to build the strength and scale of Monash’s international research and education programs to ensure they respond to the challenges and opportunities of Australia, the region and the world.

Optimising studying abroad with Monash Global Pathways

At the ceremony, the both parties agreed to sign a cooperation agreement to optimise the study abroad pathways for students through the Monash Global Pathways Program. This is a direct-entry program for Bachelor’s degree designed by Monash University, with 2 main study abroad models:

  • Monash Global Pathways 1+2: 1 year studying at UEH-ISB, 2 years of study and degree attainment at Monash University, Australia
  • Monash Global Pathways 1.5+1.5: 1.5 years of study at UEH-ISB, 1.5 years of study and degree attainment at Monash University, Australia

University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City signinged a cooperation agreement with Monash University, Australia

Monash University consistently ranks among the world’s best tertiary institutions, ranking in the . Monash achieved its best-ever performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, ranking 44th in the world and placing in the top 50 for the first time.   Monash also ranks equal 37th in the world in the US News and World Report (USNWR) 2022-23 Best Global Universities Rankings, the university’s strongest performance in these rankings.

Furthermore, the Monash Business School is accredited by three world-renowned quality assessment organisations (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA). Monash is also ranked number one in Australia in the 2023 US News and World Report for Economics and Business.

This cooperation will provide Vietnamese students with  more options for majors and models when studying in Australia in the future.

By joining the Monash Global Pathways program, students have 1 or 1.5 years to build their industry knowledge and hone their skills in Vietnam. Knowledge at this stage is the foundation to help students learn more advanced when transferring to Australia. Soft skills such as teamwork, public speaking, critical thinking... will also be cultivated.

In addition, Monash Global Pathways program offers scholarships worth from 20% to 75% for students in stage 1. Resonating with these elements and an entirely English-language learning environment and curriculum, Monash Global Pathways students are ready to transition to study in Australia in their stage 2.
