On the evening of December 10, 2023, at Phenikaa University, Hanoi, the Final round and awarding of the "15th National Student Singing Competition” - S.MUSIC 2023 took place. The competition was organized by the Ministry Education and Training in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The theme of 2023 is “Xây dựng văn hoá học đường” (Building school culture), praising love for homeland, country, school, teachers, and friends; expressing students' dreams, aspirations, feelings, and responsibilities towards themselves, their families, and the community. The competition attracted more than 1,200 students from 40 Universities and Colleges in Provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Lam Dong, Thai Nguyen, etc. with more than 100 solo, duet, trio, and group performances.
Previously, the "National Student Singing Contest 2023" was held in the Southern Region at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education and in the Northern Region at Thuy Loi University.
University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) participated in the competition with the theme “Tiếng hát nối nguồn cội” (Singing from the roots) including 3 specific performances with the production of Dang Phuc Hau, music editor: The Du, and implementation support: Hong Hanh
- Solo: “Tháng Giêng”; Composer: Luu Thien Huong.
- Three songs: "Kẽo cà kẽo kẹt"; Composer: Thinh Kainz & Kata Tran.
- Top song: "Không lạc loài"; Composer: Vo Hoai Phuc.
As a result, UEH won the second prize for the solo performance: "Tháng Giêng" and the third prize for the entire Southern Region. With 39 teams and 106 performances taking place in the regional round, UEH joined 11 other excellent performances to participate in the final round in Hanoi.
The competition entries fully demonstrated the theme of building school culture. Many performances affirmed traditional cultural values from a creative and dynamic perspective, clearly demonstrating the sense of responsibility of the young generation in asserting the sovereignty of the country’s islands and seas, and the desire to contribute.
Final round ranking results
The first- and second-prize performances received Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training. The first-prize performance received the Gold Medal from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the second-prize performance received the Silver Medal from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Summarizing the competition, Mr. Tran Van Dat, Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs assessed: “The Student Singing Competition 2023 took place vibrantly and excitedly, and was organized scientifically, ensuring the set regulations, requirements, and goals. The Organizing Committee highly appreciates the role of the leaders of the competing delegations in directing and encouraging the contestants to be calm, confident, united, and show their full potential so that each competing session truly becomes a meaningful art program for audiences and students nationwide. We hope these good values will continue to spread, contributing to creating many useful playgrounds for young people in the future", Mr. Tran Van Dat shared.

The National Student Singing Competition has become a festival for UEH students, creating opportunities to learn from each other and exchange cultures from three regions with students from other schools. This is also an opportunity for UEH students to demonstrate their dynamism, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and the comprehensive educational spirit of UEH.
