UEH signing a Memorandum of Agreement with Deakin University

In the morning of April 8th, 2024, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Deakin University took place at Campus A - 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu, District 3. The event emphasized the strategic collaboration between both institutions and introduced the new field of study, Business Analytics, to Deakin Global Pathways students.

Attending the signing ceremony, on the side of  Deakin University, there was the attendance of Prof. Iain Martin - Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University; Mr. John Molony - Pro Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University; Ms. Thu Nguyen Vo - Country Manager of Deakin University. On behalf of UEH, there was the presence of Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Tran Ha Minh Quan - Executive Dean of ISB; with representatives from the UEH and ISB.

To kick off the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Vice-President of UEH expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership with Deakin University, which is known as the best Victorian university for overall student experience. Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung commended Deakin University for its community activities supporting education and student life in both Vietnam and Australia. Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung also highlighted that the collaboration between UEH and Deakin has provided Vietnamese students with opportunities for integration and global networking through various activities involving representatives and experts from major Australian corporations. "I hope that both parties will further enhance research activities, student and faculty exchanges, and be ready to build a sustainable community for the next generations in the future," - Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung shared.

Agreeing with this perspective, Prof. Iain Martin - Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, stated that the signing ceremony marks a significant milestone in expanding the long-term collaboration between Deakin University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. During the ceremony, Prof. Iain Martin also emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of education, academic knowledge, simultaneously promoting support activities and community building for students.

“How do they build a great career, contribute to leadership and have a sustainable future? What do they think about working with technology? And there are still many more questions that we need to find answers to together," expressed Prof. Iain Martin.

Introducing the Business Analytics degree for Deakin Global Pathways students

Previously, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Deakin University signed a partnership agreement to offer two bachelor's degrees in the field of economics, including Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Commerce, through the Deakin Global Pathways 1+2. With the Deakin Global Pathways 1+2, students have 1 year studying at UEH-ISB and 2 years of study and degree attainment at Deakin University, Australia.

During the ceremony, both parties agreed to introduce a new degree in Business Analytics for Deakin Global Pathways students who have a passion for data, technology, and business. They also aim to bring international standard work experience in the business analytics field closer to Vietnamese students, enhancing their career opportunities in both Vietnam and Australia in the future.

Deakin University is ranked among the top 42 young universities globally (according to the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, 2022). Additionally, it has been the leading university in Victoria for 13 consecutive years in terms of student satisfaction and learning experience. Therefore, with this collaboration, Global Pathways students will have more specialized fields and study pathways to choose from when aiming to pursue their educational journey in Australia.
