As part of an ever-growing mission to become a multidisciplinary and sustainable university whose goal is to enhance the quality of many lives in its community and society, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) proudly launched the UEH Global Learning Community Project “Free Digital Transformation Support for high schools nationwide”. Following the success of phase 1, UEH continues to phase 2 implementation in hopes to help schools overcome the insurmountable challenges of online learning and teaching during the pandemic while also laying a concrete foundation for the application of information technology in the long run.

FREE UEH Global Online Learning system for high schools towards sustainable growth

UEH Global Learning “Free digital transformation support for high schools nationwide” is a community project initiated by the university to share and elaborate on digital transformation efforts and experiences in teaching and learning activities to various high schools across the country, especially those in geographically challenging regions and have limited access to deploy virtual education. As part of the project, the UEH Global Online Learning System is provided completely free of charge for high schools with the following 3 notable features:

(1) Comprehensive support on classroom management, learning materials, organization of tests, assessment of the learning process, exchanges between students and students, etc. via the dashboard: //global.harthi.net/.

(2) Direct means of communication between teachers and students during the teaching and learning process via Google Meet provided by the school.

(3) Frequent exams implementation in the online form for both regular and periodic tests, including formulating regulations, compiling exam questions, reviewing and marking, etc.

The UEH Global system was developed on the basis of the university’s own online teaching platform that had been in operation for many years, handling approximately 30,000 students/users yearly. At present, most essential features for online teaching are sufficient and available for use; hence, UEH wishes to expedite this free digital transformation process for all high schools and immediately address all challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving forward, UEH also longs to establish a solid foundation for the high schools to effectively utilize the available IT resources to their benefits so as to accelerate their own digital transformation efforts as we look forward to a sustainable future for the community.

Take UEH Global Learning “Free digital transformation support for high schools nationwide” community project as an example. This is one of many initiatives in UEH general digital transformation strategy, and is a non-profit project aimed at educating high school in the rural and suburban areas to expedite their own digitalization process so as to achieve the capacity in which they can work with UEH partners to further enhance their teaching and learning quality, which in turn can continue to make significant contributions to spreading knowledge towards sustainable development".

The UEH Global Online Teaching system, in particular, and UEH Global Learning “Free digital transformation support for high schools nationwide” community project, in general, demonstrate the social responsibility of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in supporting, connecting and spreading knowledge. With aspirations to grow together, it is expected that the project will help high schools effectively implement online teaching and learning in the current social-distancing setting, and at the same time, accelerate the process of digital transformation, contributing to sustainable development of the community.
