Career orientation for students majoring in Hospital Management, Management Faculty, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics

With the motto "patient-centered", in 2016, the Ministry of Health issued the Vietnam Hospital Quality Criteria, version 2.0 with 83 criteria and 1,200 subs section to assess the situation and measure the improvement of the quality of medical services in public and private hospital systems, ensuring the health safety and satisfaction of patients to visit. In addition, the Ministry of Health issued Decree No. 16/2015/ND-CP on February 02nd, 2015 of the Government stipulating the autonomy mechanism of medical units, including the right to public-private cooperation or medical socialization in order to renovate and improve medical facilities. In order to meet the development trend and the increasing demands of society, hospitals need to transform themselves, improve the quality not only in the field of medical examination and treatment but also in hospital management capacity, as well as the ability to communicate with customers (patients).

The Hospital Management Program developed by the Faculty of Management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics has been contributing to providing high-quality human resources for hospitals in both public and private hospitals. This human resource is expected to contribute to improving the quality of management, helping to innovate the hospital management system in a more modern and professional way to meet the global development needs of the hospital system.

In order to guide careers for students majoring in Hospital Management after graduation, on the morning of November 22nd, 2020, at Room B1.302, Campus 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong, District 10, Faculty of Management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) held a seminar "Career orientation for students majoring in Hospital Management".

Attending the seminar, on the guest side were Dr. Quach Huu Loc - Dean of Medical Faculty, Head of Organization Department of Junior Medical Hospital 2; Dr. Huynh Cong Chanh - Dean of Emergency Department of Trans-Asia Hospital; Dr. To Phuoc Hai - Head of Gastrointestinal Department of An Binh Hospital; Major, Specialist 1, Dr.Vu Son Giang - Deputy Political Director of Military Hospital 175. On the side of the Faculty of Management, there were the participation of Dr. Ngo Quang Huan - Dean of The Faculty of Management, Prof. Ts. Bui Thi Thanh - Deputy Dean of The Faculty of Management, MSc. Diep Quoc Bao - Deputy Dean of The Faculty of Management; with the lecturers and more than 60 students from the Hospital Administration class and interested students.

Guests shared at the seminar

At the seminar, students of the major had access to useful information after graduation such as requirements, conditions and benefits of working in medical organizations and facilities. Questions from students about their job as well as professional, specialty, and welfare issues when applying for a job, etc have been answered thoroughly and satisfactorily by representatives of medical organizations and establishments. The seminar helped students visualize and have a clearer orientation on future employment.

At the end of the talk, Dr. Ngo Quang Huan, on behalf of the Faculty of Management, summed up the contents of the seminar and thanked the guests for sharing; thanked for the participation and support of the faculty and the large presence of students who contributed to the success of the seminar on hospital management.
