These training workshops are included in a two-week program specially designed by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). This project enables QUT Business students to study how the issues of sustainability are integrated into policy research and business operation in Vietnam - an emerging production hub in South East Asia. This mobility program is nested in a standard unit in Business undergraduate degrees at QUT. Students not only acquire academic training but also participate in research work during their site visits and post-visit engagement with the senior members of the management boards of four mobility partners. Prior to leaving Vietnam, students will present their research findings to research fellows at UEH. On return to Australia, students complete the final assessment. This program enhances an existing institutional relationship between QUT and UEH in the area of student and staff exchange and research collaboration. This program also increases student mobility in the region by establishing new mobility partnerships with private and public organizations in Vietnam.

Supported by a formal MoU signed in 2017 and 2021, this program consolidates the partnership between UEH and QUT. Currently, two universities are building academic programs for UEH’s students to exchange to QUT but not for QUT students to visit UEH. This project enables QUT students to study and visit at UEH. QUT staff will visit UEH regularly to promote further academic exchanges, research collaboration, and course articulation arrangements.

About The New Colombo Plan Mobility Program

The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region. It encourages a two-way flow of students between Australia and the rest of our region, complementing the thousands of students from the region coming to Australia to study each year. The New Colombo Plan Mobility Program provides funding to Australian universities to support Australian undergraduate students’ participation in study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research in 40 host locations across the Indo-Pacific region. The Mobility Program is open to Australian university undergraduates aged 18 to 28. Participation by undergraduates over 28 is permitted in some. For further information, please read.
